My character is unable to walk, jump, or run once he enters the Telvannis Council Chamber. All I can do is rotate back to the door. I’m unable to get quests or speak to the council members.
Now, I do recall reading that you’re supposed to reach a floating platform. However, whatever I’m standing on upon entry does not float. I’ve tried casting levitation, and that doesn’t do anything either. Has anybody run into this?
I’ve also been getting a lot of slowdown in Port Telvannis, particularly around the Council Chamber. I suspect that’s an issue with my computer, however.
EDIT: Should I simply adjust the DoorMarker in the construction set? I’m wondering if maybe I’m stuck in the scenery or something.

I just fired up MW and took a look at Port Telvannis and the Council Chambers. I cannot replicate this problem, but somebody from the TR team ought to take a look, just in case.
„floating platform”: you stand on the chamber floor when you enter, and the platform you can stand on is either one in the ground, surrounded by roots, or one set a bit higher up, but, also not floating. Levitation works as normal for me.
Issue with your computer: unlikely, if you refer to its being a bit older; I use an old Athlon64 dual core 2.1GHz with 8G RAM and an old nv9600 gfx board, and everything is smooth and fast, even with hires textures and models.
Maybe something scrapped your MW installation, eg. not thoroughly cleaning your save with Wrye Bash or so.

Sound like OpenMW “bugs” as I have the same in Port Telvannis.

Try it with the regular Morrowind.exe and post your results here, for comparison, please.
EDIT: also, try to twiddle a bit with the GFX settings in OpenMW (viewing distance, resolution etc.). Maybe the load put onto CPU/GPU makes your engine stutter and erratic.

Hmm, I can only change the anti-aliasing and the resolution in OpenMW. I don’t see an option to change viewing distance.
I can’t access my saved game with regular Morrowind, so there’s no way for me to easily check out Port Telvannis.

dallicant: look at the extended settings (either a button on the GFX tab, or a dedicated tab) and the visual/water effects tabs.
Do the simple one: start a new game, use the console (~) to get some coins, coc to port telvannis. For testing purposes, this is no cheating.

I went ahead and created a door that teleports the user from the Seyda Neen Census and Excise Office all the way to the Port Telvannis Council Entrance. It works fine in Morrowind.exe, so I’ll take the question over to MW Open; I guess it’s on their end.
That said, I jury-rigged a solution by adjusting the doormarker into the Port Telvannis Council Chamber. The problem does seem to be an issue of getting stuck in scenery.
There doesn’t appear to be any “extended settings” tab or button in my version of MWOpen. The slowdown’s annoying, but not crippling. Again, that’s probably an MWOpen issue.
EDIT: Almost definitely an MWOpen issue. Port Telvannis suffers no slowdown in regular Morrowind.

EDIT: Tip: next time you get stuck, simply use the console, type TCL (toggle clipping) and take a few steps into an unobstructed direction, then type TCL again in the console. It’s much simpler than to do a hack via the CS.
Sorry, I was using OpenMW 0.37 for comparison, maybe they have changed the (in-game) UI since then. The options to change viewing distance, visual and water effects ought to be there somewhere, I doubt that they have put them solely into the launcher UI (although this is a possibility).

For the curious:
I asked around OpenMW, and they pointed me to an older thread about players suffering slowdown in Sadrith Mora. It turns out this has something to do with the collision detection; there are wandering guards who run into the slave pod gates.
Curious, I tried deleting all of the slave pod gates in Port Telvannis and creating a separate mod. I activated it, and the slowdown was gone.
I don’t think this really warrants any attention; if it’s causing trouble for your computer, it’s fairly easy to fix it with the Construction Set. I’m just mentioning this as a possible solution.
I am running into trouble with the Thieves Guild quest to rescue Mala. Reading the Almsivi Intervention on Other scroll doesn’t seem to do anything, even when I’m next to her. Not sure if I’m doing something wrong, or if OpenMW is acting up.
EDIT: Interesting. I tried with regular Morrowind, and it worked. The problem stems from OpenMW.

Sorry if I add my quack to this once again. But this is exactly what I was referring to all the way, in this thread and the „questionable practices” one. Even if OpenMW is generally the visually better and netplay-capable engine, it is too incomplete in one way, and too different in mesh placement, collision detection and script handling in another way. So, to test something new (and potentially buggy), it makes sense to use the original, neh? ;-)

Yeah, the reason I’m not using the original Morrowind.exe is because it crashes a lot on my computer for some reason. In fact, at one point it led to such a bad crash that I had to reinstall Windows.
The few times I’ve gone in since (usually to experiment), it’s been pretty stable though. Earlier I was using MGSO, which just seemed to run into no end of problems.

That’s why I am not using MGSE/MGSO and the like –– they are partly hacks which worked fine in Windows 98 and Windows 2000, but do lots of nasty things from XP upward.

Did anyone put this as a bug in the bugtracker? With a note that you’re using OpenMW?
Does: concepts, textures, youtube vids, admin stuff e.g. PR, handbook, assets, small website things. Activity level: wildly unpredictable. Still active. Find me on Discord.

I just did (thanks, btw, Kaziem, now I can access the bug tracker).
